رحلة من 5 أيام: نيفاشا، ثم مارا، والعودة إلى نيروبي

هذه هي الرحلة التي كنت سأختارها. بحيرة نيفاشا أولاً، ثم ثلاث ليالٍ في مارا لتكون هناك في آخر ثلاثة أيام من المهرجان، بما فيها يوم الختام.

• الأربعاء 11 نوفمبر: يستقبلك السائق في مطار نيروبي، والطريق إلى بحيرة نيفاشا نحو ساعتين، حسب زحمة نيروبي. بعد الظهر تعبر بالقارب إلى جزيرة كريسنت (Crescent Island) وتمشي بين الزرافات والحمير الوحشية. جزيرة كريسنت من أحب الأماكن إليّ. المبيت في Lake Naivasha Resort.

• السبت 14 نوفمبر: رحلة سفاري أخرى في الصباح، ثم يوم ختام المهرجان. سيكون أكثر الأيام ازدحاماً بحضور الرئيس.
• الأحد 15 نوفمبر: العودة إلى نيروبي، نحو خمس ساعات على الطريق.

لديك وقت أطول؟ أضف أمبوسيلي، ثم الساحل

إذا كان لديك وقت أطول، فالأفضل أن تضيف أمبوسيلي أيضاً. إنها المحمية التي تضم قطعان الفيلة الكبيرة، وجبل كليمنجارو على الجانب الآخر من الحدود مباشرةً، وقد أُقيم مهرجان العام الماضي هناك، عند بوابة كيمانا. ليلتان تكفيان.

وإذا بقي لديك وقت بعد ذلك، أنصحك برحلة إلى الساحل أيضاً، إلى دياني (Diani) أو واتامو (Watamu). أسهل طريقة للوصول هي من نيروبي، بالقطار أو برحلة طيران قصيرة.

5 天行程：纳瓦沙、马赛马拉、返回内罗毕

这是我会选的行程。先去纳瓦沙湖，然后在马赛马拉住三晚，这样你能赶上文化节的最后三天，包括闭幕式。

• 11 月 11 日星期三：司机在内罗毕机场接你，到纳瓦沙湖大约两个小时，看内罗毕的交通情况。下午坐船到新月岛（Crescent Island），在长颈鹿和斑马中间步行。新月岛是我最喜欢的地方之一。晚上住 Lake Naivasha Resort。
• 11 月 12 日星期四：大约四个小时到马赛马拉，赶上在 Mara Hilltop 吃午饭。下午去文化节，开车五分钟就到。
• 11 月 13 日星期五：日出时在保护区游猎，回来吃早餐，下午去文化节。
• 11 月 14 日星期六：上午再去一次游猎，然后是文化节的闭幕日。总统会到场，这天人会最多。
• 11 月 15 日星期日：返回内罗毕，路上大约五个小时。

如果你时间更多，最好把安博塞利也加进去。那里有大群的大象，乞力马扎罗山就在边境另一边，去年的文化节也是在那里办的，在 Kimana 大门。住两晚正好。

如果时间还有富余，我也推荐你再去一趟海边，迪亚尼（Diani）或者瓦塔穆（Watamu）。最方便的去法是从内罗毕坐火车或者短途航班。

De basis:

• Het is van 10 tot 14 november 2026, net binnen de Sekenani Gate, de hoofdingang van de Maasai Mara (The Standard).

Een reis van 5 dagen: Naivasha, de Mara, terug naar Nairobi

Dit is de reis die ik zou maken. Eerst Lake Naivasha, dan drie nachten in de Mara, zodat je er bent voor de laatste drie dagen van het festival, inclusief de afsluiting.

• Woensdag 11 nov: je chauffeur haalt je op van het vliegveld in Nairobi, en het is ongeveer twee uur naar Lake Naivasha, afhankelijk van het verkeer in Nairobi. Meer tijd? Voeg Amboseli toe, en dan de kust

Als je meer tijd hebt, moet je waarschijnlijk ook Amboseli toevoegen. Dat is het park met de grote olifantenkuddes en de Kilimanjaro net over de grens, en het festival van vorig jaar was daar, bij de Kimana Gate. Twee nachten is goed.

En als je daarna nog meer tijd hebt, zou ik je ook een trip naar de kust aanraden, naar Diani of Watamu. De makkelijkste manier om daar te komen is vanuit Nairobi, met de trein of een korte vlucht.

Mara Hilltop ligt naast het festival

Un viaggio di 5 giorni: Naivasha, il Mara, ritorno a Nairobi

Questo è il viaggio che farei io. Prima il lago Naivasha, poi tre notti nel Mara, così sei lì per gli ultimi tre giorni del festival, chiusura compresa.

• Mercoledì 11 nov: il tuo autista ti accoglie all'aeroporto di Nairobi e ci vogliono circa due ore fino al lago Naivasha, a seconda del traffico di Nairobi. Nel pomeriggio attraversi in barca fino a Crescent Island e cammini tra giraffe e zebre. Crescent Island è uno dei miei posti preferiti. Notte al Lake Naivasha Resort.
• Giovedì 12 nov: circa quattro ore fino al Mara, in tempo per pranzo a Mara Hilltop. Pomeriggio al festival, che è a cinque minuti.
• Venerdì 13 nov: game drive all'alba nella riserva, rientro per la colazione, festival nel pomeriggio.
• Sabato 14 nov: un altro game drive al mattino, poi l'ultimo giorno del festival. Sarà il giorno più affollato, con il presidente presente.
• Domenica 15 nov: ritorno a Nairobi, circa cinque ore di strada.

E se hai ancora più tempo, ti consiglierei anche un viaggio sulla costa, a Diani o a Watamu. Il modo più facile per arrivarci è da Nairobi, in treno o con un volo breve.

Eine 5-Tage-Reise: Naivasha, die Mara, zurück nach Nairobi

Diese Reise würde ich machen. Zuerst der Lake Naivasha, dann drei Nächte in der Mara, damit Sie die letzten drei Tage des Fests miterleben, einschließlich des Abschlusses.

Für zwei Personen im Doppelzimmer berechnet unser Planer etwa 2.960 bis 3.070 US-Dollar insgesamt, also rund 1.480 bis 1.540 US-Dollar pro Person. Enthalten sind

Mehr Zeit? Amboseli dazu, dann die Küste

Wenn Sie mehr Zeit haben, sollten Sie wahrscheinlich auch Amboseli dazunehmen. Das ist der Park mit den großen Elefantenherden und dem Kilimandscharo direkt hinter der Grenze, und das Fest im letzten Jahr fand dort statt, am Kimana Gate. Zwei Nächte sind gut.

Und wenn Sie dann noch mehr Zeit haben, würde ich Ihnen auch einen Abstecher an die Küste empfehlen, nach Diani oder Watamu. Am einfachsten kommen Sie von Nairobi aus hin, mit dem Zug oder einem kurzen Flug.

Un voyage de 5 jours : Naivasha, le Mara, retour à Nairobi

C'est le voyage que je ferais. D'abord le lac Naivasha, puis trois nuits dans le Mara pour être là les trois derniers jours du festival, clôture comprise.

• Mercredi 11 nov. : votre chauffeur vous accueille à l'aéroport de Nairobi, puis il faut environ deux heures jusqu'au lac Naivasha, selon la circulation à Nairobi. L'après-midi, vous traversez en bateau jusqu'à Crescent Island et vous marchez au milieu des girafes et des zèbres. Crescent Island est l'un de mes endroits préférés. Nuit au Lake Naivasha Resort.
• Jeudi 12 nov. : environ quatre heures jusqu'au Mara, à temps pour déjeuner à Mara Hilltop. L'après-midi au festival, à cinq minutes de route.
• Vendredi 13 nov. : safari au lever du soleil dans la réserve, retour pour le petit-déjeuner, festival l'après-midi.
• Samedi 14 nov. : encore un safari le matin, puis la journée de clôture du festival. Ce sera le jour le plus chargé, avec le président sur place.
• Dimanche 15 nov. : retour à Nairobi, environ cinq heures de route.

Plus de temps ? Ajoutez Amboseli, puis la côte

Si vous avez plus de temps, vous devriez sans doute ajouter Amboseli aussi. C'est le parc des grands troupeaux d'éléphants, avec le Kilimandjaro juste de l'autre côté de la frontière, et l'édition de l'an dernier s'y est tenue, à la porte de Kimana. Deux nuits, c'est bien.

Et s'il vous reste encore du temps, je vous recommande aussi un séjour sur la côte, à Diani ou à Watamu. Le plus simple pour y descendre, c'est depuis Nairobi, en train ou avec un vol court.

Le festival a lieu juste à côté de Mara Hilltop, notre lodge, géré par la même équipe que RafikiGo. Il est à 2,5 km de la porte de Sekenani. Notre équipe est très contente d'accueillir beaucoup de voyageurs à cette période pour l'événement.

Un viaje de 5 días: Naivasha, el Mara y vuelta a Nairobi

Este es el viaje que yo haría. Primero el lago Naivasha y luego tres noches en el Mara, para estar allí los tres últimos días del festival, clausura incluida.

• Miércoles 11 nov: tu conductor te recoge en el aeropuerto de Nairobi y hay unas dos horas hasta el lago Naivasha, según el tráfico de Nairobi. Por la tarde cruzas en barca a Crescent Island y caminas entre jirafas y cebras. Crescent Island es uno de mis sitios favoritos. Noche en el Lake Naivasha Resort.
• Jueves 12 nov: unas cuatro horas hasta el Mara, a tiempo para comer en Mara Hilltop. Por la tarde, el festival, que está a cinco minutos.
• Viernes 13 nov: safari al amanecer en la reserva, vuelta para desayunar y festival por la tarde.
• Sábado 14 nov: otro safari por la mañana y luego el día de clausura del festival. Será el día con más gente, con el presidente allí.
• Domingo 15 nov: vuelta a Nairobi, unas cinco horas de carretera.

¿Más tiempo? Añade Amboseli y luego la costa

Si tienes más tiempo, probablemente deberías intentar añadir Amboseli también. Es el parque de las grandes manadas de elefantes, con el Kilimanjaro justo al otro lado de la frontera, y la edición del año pasado se celebró allí, en la puerta de Kimana. Con dos noches está bien.

Y si todavía tienes más tiempo, te recomendaría hacer también un viaje a la costa, a Diani o a Watamu. La forma más fácil de bajar es desde Nairobi, en tren o en un vuelo corto.

The basics:

• It's from 10 to 14 November 2026, just inside Sekenani Gate, the main gate of the Maasai Mara (The Standard).
• It moves to a different county every year (Samburu in 2024, Kajiado near Amboseli in 2025), so this is the first time it's back in the Mara since the first one in 2023.
• President Ruto is expected at the closing ceremony on Saturday 14 November, which will be the busiest day.
• November is the short rains, so pack a rain jacket.

I wrote up everything we know so far about the festival itself (the dancing, the beadwork, what happened at the earlier ones) on the Mara Hilltop blog. This post is about how to build a trip around it.

A 5-day trip: Naivasha, the Mara, back to Nairobi

This is the trip I'd do. Lake Naivasha first, then three nights in the Mara so you're there for the last three days of the festival, including the closing.

• Wednesday 11 Nov: your driver meets you at the airport in Nairobi, and it's about two hours to Lake Naivasha, depending on Nairobi traffic. In the afternoon you take a boat across to Crescent Island and walk among the giraffe and zebra. Crescent Island is one of my favourite places. Night at Lake Naivasha Resort.
• Thursday 12 Nov: about four hours to the Mara, in time for lunch at Mara Hilltop. Afternoon at the festival, which is five minutes down the road.
• Friday 13 Nov: sunrise game drive in the reserve, back for breakfast, festival in the afternoon.
• Saturday 14 Nov: another morning game drive, then the closing day of the festival. It'll be the busiest day with the President there.
• Sunday 15 Nov: back to Nairobi, about five hours on the road.

For two people sharing, our planner prices this at about $2,960 to $3,070 in total, so roughly $1,480 to $1,540 each. That includes

• full board at Lake Naivasha Resort and Mara Hilltop (Standard Room),
• a private car and driver for all the road legs (usually a Toyota Noah, with air conditioning),
• two days of game drives with a local guide,
• the park fees for the game-drive days.

More time? Add Amboseli, then the coast

If you have more time, you should probably try to add in Amboseli as well. It's the park with the big elephant herds and Kilimanjaro right across the border, and last year's festival was there too, at Kimana Gate. Two nights is good.

And if you have more time from that, I would recommend you do a trip to the coast as well, Diani or Watamu. The easiest way down is from Nairobi, by the train or a short flight.

Prima organizzavo viaggi in Kenya per i miei amici, e non solo l'itinerario. Sceglievo i migliori autisti che conosco e i posti migliori dove andare, e gestivo il viaggio vero e proprio. Io e la mia famiglia viviamo in Kenya da molto tempo, e abbiamo aiutato tanti amici a fare viaggi incredibili qui.

E sinceramente ho sempre questa voglia di far vedere alla gente il meglio del Kenya. Un esempio: il Mara e Amboseli nello stesso viaggio

Mettiamo che il tuo programma preveda il Maasai Mara e Amboseli uno dopo l'altro. Vanno bene tutte e due le direzioni, nessuna è meglio dell'altra, e abbiamo fatto viaggi in entrambi i sensi. Quello che consiglierei è di inserire Naivasha lungo il percorso. Dal Mara ad Amboseli senza soste ci vogliono quasi otto o nove ore, ed è troppo.

Con Naivasha in mezzo ci vogliono circa quattro ore dal Mara a Naivasha, e poi circa sei ore da Naivasha ad Amboseli. Così Naivasha fa da tappa, ed è anche un altro bel posto dove dormire. Puoi uscire in barca sul lago a vedere gli ippopotami, oppure attraversare Hell's Gate in bici. Per Amboseli consigliamo di solito due notti.

Come verificare qualsiasi agenzia di viaggi in Kenya, compresa la nostra

In Kenya ci sono tantissime agenzie di viaggi. Alcune sono valide, altre meno, e non ci sono abbastanza informazioni. Voglio rendere il Kenya più accessibile. L'obiettivo è diventare uno dei marchi di viaggio più affidabili del Kenya e dell'Africa orientale, e con le recensioni di Mara Hilltop siamo già partiti bene.

Ecco cosa chiederemmo a qualsiasi agenzia di viaggi in Kenya, e le nostre risposte. Le prime due sono quelle che la Tourism Regulatory Authority del Kenya consiglia ai viaggiatori di verificare.

Come iniziare

Il planner ti permette di provare un percorso e vedere un budget indicativo prima di parlare con chiunque. Quando sei pronto, Nikhil controlla che ogni lodge abbia posto e ti manda il preventivo scritto, e paghi metà con bonifico per bloccare il viaggio.

Oppure salta il planner e scrivi a Nikhil su WhatsApp indicando le tue date, quanti siete, l'età dei bambini se ci sono e un budget indicativo. Non solo il Mara: organizziamo anche viaggi in altre zone del Kenya (Amboseli, Samburu, Naivasha, Diani e molte altre). Se hai domande, chiedimi pure.

一个例子：一趟旅行同时去马拉和安博塞利

假设你的计划是马赛马拉和安博塞利连着去。两个方向都可以，没有哪个更好，两个方向我们都走过。我的建议是途中加上奈瓦沙。从马拉直接开到安博塞利差不多要八到九个小时，太久了。

中间停奈瓦沙的话，从马拉到奈瓦沙大约四个小时，再从奈瓦沙到安博塞利大约六个小时。这样奈瓦沙就是一个中途站，也是另一个值得住一晚的好地方。你可以坐船游湖看河马，或者骑自行车穿过 Hell's Gate（地狱之门国家公园）。安博塞利本身我们一般建议住两晚。

如何核实肯尼亚任何一家旅行公司，包括我们

肯尼亚的旅行公司非常多。有的很好，有的没那么好，而能找到的信息又不够。我想让去肯尼亚变得更容易。我们的目标是成为肯尼亚和东非最值得信赖的旅行品牌之一，而有了 Mara Hilltop 的评价，我们已经有了很好的开始。

Vroeger plande ik reizen in Kenia voor mijn vrienden, en niet alleen de route. Ik regelde de beste chauffeurs die ik ken en de beste plekken, en ik verzorgde de reis zelf. Mijn familie en ik wonen al lang in Kenia, en we hebben veel vrienden geholpen om hier ongelooflijke reizen te maken.

En eerlijk gezegd kriebelt het bij mij altijd om mensen het beste van Kenia te laten zien. Ik heb de hele wereld rondgereisd en ik vind Kenia een van de meest gezegende landen ter wereld, en ik wil dat mensen dat meemaken. Daarom wilde ik ook een reisbedrijf beginnen. Het heet RafikiGo. Rafiki betekent vriend in het Swahili. We kozen die naam omdat het allemaal begon met reizen plannen voor onze vrienden, en we elke reis willen plannen zoals we dat voor een vriend zouden doen.

Wie je reis regelt

Dit is geen groot bedrijf. We zijn met z'n drieën: mijn broer Nikhil, ik, en Anupam, al jaren een goede vriend van de familie en voor ons als een broer. We houden van reizen en laten Kenia graag zien aan onze vrienden en aan mensen in het algemeen.

• Nikhil, mijn broer, runt Mara Hilltop en plant elke RafikiGo-reis. Hij beantwoordt WhatsApp zelf, meestal binnen twee uur, van 7.00 tot 22.00 uur Keniaanse tijd.
• Anupam, onze medeoprichter, regelt je aanbetaling en het papierwerk.
• Ik bepaal de prijzen van de lodges (we hebben tariefafspraken met meer dan 80 lodges) en ik heb de reisplanner gebouwd.
• Je chauffeur wacht je op het vliegveld op met een bordje met je naam. Voor transfers over de weg raden we meestal een Toyota Noah aan, heel comfortabel en de hele rit met airco, en voor gezinnen is dat perfect. Grotere groepen reizen in een busje met 10 of 14 zitplaatsen, en wil je een 4×4 voor de hele reis, dan kan dat ook. Op game drive ga je met lokale gidsen uit de regio die de omgeving kennen, zoals Maasai-gidsen in de Mara of in Amboseli. De reis is privé, game drives inbegrepen, en wil je een safari met andere gasten delen, dan helpen we daar ook bij.

Het is hetzelfde WhatsApp-gesprek vanaf je eerste vraag tot je naar huis vliegt. Gaat er onderweg iets mis, dan stuur je een bericht in dat gesprek en regelt Nikhil het rechtstreeks met de lodge.

Een voorbeeld: de Mara en Amboseli in één reis

Stel dat je de Maasai Mara en Amboseli direct na elkaar wilt doen. Beide richtingen zijn prima, geen van beide is beter, en we hebben reizen in beide richtingen gedaan. Wat ik zou aanraden is om Naivasha onderweg mee te nemen. Van de Mara direct naar Amboseli is bijna acht tot negen uur rijden, en dat is te veel.

Met Naivasha ertussen is het ongeveer vier uur van de Mara naar Naivasha, en daarna ongeveer zes uur van Naivasha naar Amboseli. Naivasha werkt dus als tussenstop, en het is nog een mooie plek om te overnachten. Je kunt met een boot het meer op om nijlpaarden te zien, of door Hell's Gate fietsen. Voor Amboseli zelf raden we meestal twee nachten aan.

Hoe je elk reisbedrijf in Kenia controleert, ook ons

Er zijn ontzettend veel reisbedrijven in Kenia. Sommige zijn goed, sommige minder, en er is niet genoeg informatie. Ik wil Kenia toegankelijker maken. Het doel is om een van de meest vertrouwde reismerken van Kenia en Oost-Afrika te worden, en met de reviews van Mara Hilltop zijn we al goed begonnen.

Wat wij elk reisbedrijf in Kenia zouden vragen, en onze antwoorden. De eerste twee raadt de Keniaanse toerismetoezichthouder reizigers aan te controleren.

Er staan acht reizen op de site, en de planner (voorlopig in het Engels) berekent de prijs van elk ervan voor jouw data. Parkgelden zitten in de schatting, maar die betaal je bij de ingang en de rest aan RafikiGo (hoe de parkgelden van de Mara werken).

Zo begin je

Met de planner kun je een route uitproberen en een ruw budget zien voordat je met iemand praat. Als je zover bent, controleert Nikhil of elke lodge plek heeft en stuurt hij de schriftelijke offerte, en je betaalt de helft per overschrijving om de reis vast te leggen.

• Anupam, unser Mitgründer, kümmert sich um Ihre Anzahlung und den Papierkram.
• Ich kalkuliere die Lodge-Preise (wir haben mit über 80 Lodges Tarife vereinbart) und habe den Reiseplaner gebaut.
• Ihr Fahrer holt Sie mit einem Namensschild am Flughafen ab. Für die Transfers auf der Straße empfehlen wir meist einen Toyota Noah, der sehr bequem ist und die ganze Fahrt über eine Klimaanlage hat, und für Familien ist er ideal. Größere Gruppen fahren in einem Kleinbus mit 10 oder 14 Sitzen, und wenn Sie für die ganze Reise einen 4×4 möchten, geht das auch. Auf Pirschfahrt gehen Sie mit Guides aus der Region, die sich vor Ort auskennen, zum Beispiel Massai-Guides in der Mara oder in Amboseli. Die Reise ist privat, Pirschfahrten eingeschlossen, und wenn Sie eine Safari mit anderen Gästen teilen möchten, helfen wir auch dabei.

Ein Beispiel: die Mara und Amboseli auf einer Reise

Angenommen, Ihr Plan sieht die Maasai Mara und Amboseli direkt hintereinander vor. Beide Richtungen sind in Ordnung, keine ist besser als die andere, und wir haben Reisen in beide Richtungen gemacht. Ich würde empfehlen, Naivasha unterwegs einzuplanen. Von der Mara direkt nach Amboseli sind es fast acht bis neun Stunden, das ist zu viel.

Mit Naivasha in der Mitte sind es etwa vier Stunden von der Mara nach Naivasha und dann etwa sechs Stunden von Naivasha nach Amboseli. Naivasha ist also ein Zwischenstopp und ein weiterer schöner Ort zum Übernachten. Sie können mit dem Boot auf den See fahren und Flusspferde sehen oder mit dem Rad durch Hell's Gate fahren. Für Amboseli selbst empfehlen wir meistens zwei Nächte.

Wie Sie jedes Reiseunternehmen in Kenia prüfen, auch uns

Es gibt in Kenia jede Menge Reiseunternehmen. Manche sind gut, manche nicht so gut, und es gibt zu wenig Informationen. Ich möchte Kenia zugänglicher machen. Das Ziel ist, eine der vertrauenswürdigsten Reisemarken in Kenia und Ostafrika zu werden, und mit den Bewertungen von Mara Hilltop haben wir schon einen guten Start.

Was wir jedes Reiseunternehmen in Kenia fragen würden, und unsere Antworten. Die ersten beiden Punkte sollten Reisende laut Kenias Tourismusbehörde prüfen.

Un exemple : le Mara et Amboseli dans le même voyage

Imaginons que votre programme enchaîne le Maasai Mara et Amboseli. Les deux sens se font très bien, aucun n'est meilleur que l'autre, et nous avons fait des voyages dans les deux sens. Ce que je recommanderais, c'est d'inclure Naivasha en chemin. Du Mara à Amboseli en direct, c'est presque huit à neuf heures de route, c'est trop.

Avec Naivasha au milieu, il faut environ quatre heures du Mara à Naivasha, puis environ six heures de Naivasha à Amboseli. Naivasha sert donc d'étape, et c'est un autre bel endroit où dormir. Vous pouvez faire un tour en bateau sur le lac pour voir les hippopotames, ou traverser Hell's Gate à vélo. Pour Amboseli, nous recommandons en général deux nuits.

Comment vérifier n'importe quelle agence de voyage au Kenya, y compris la nôtre

Il y a des tonnes d'entreprises de voyage au Kenya. Certaines sont bonnes, d'autres moins, et il n'y a pas assez d'informations. Je veux rendre le Kenya plus accessible. L'objectif est de devenir l'une des marques de voyage les plus fiables du Kenya et d'Afrique de l'Est, et grâce aux avis de Mara Hilltop, nous avons déjà bien commencé.

Ce que nous demanderions à n'importe quelle entreprise de voyage au Kenya, et nos réponses. Les deux premiers points sont ceux que l'autorité kényane de régulation du tourisme conseille aux voyageurs de vérifier.

Comment commencer

Le planificateur vous permet d'essayer un itinéraire et de voir un budget approximatif avant de parler à qui que ce soit. Quand vous êtes prêt, Nikhil vérifie que chaque lodge a de la place et vous envoie le devis écrit, et vous payez la moitié par virement pour bloquer le voyage.

Quién se encarga de tu viaje

No es una gran empresa. Somos tres: mi hermano Nikhil, yo y Anupam, que es amigo íntimo de la familia desde hace años y es como un hermano para nosotros. Nos encanta viajar y enseñar Kenia a nuestros amigos y a la gente en general.

• Nikhil, mi hermano, dirige Mara Hilltop y planifica todos los viajes de RafikiGo. Responde él mismo por WhatsApp, normalmente en menos de dos horas, de 7:00 a 22:00 hora de Kenia.
• Anupam, nuestro cofundador, se encarga de tu depósito y del papeleo.
• Yo pongo precio a los lodges (tenemos tarifas acordadas con más de 80) y creé el planificador de viajes.
• Tu conductor te recibe en el aeropuerto con un cartel con tu nombre. Para los traslados por carretera solemos recomendar un Toyota Noah, que es muy cómodo y lleva aire acondicionado todo el viaje, y para familias es perfecto. Los grupos más grandes van en una furgoneta de 10 o 14 plazas, y si prefieres un 4×4 para todo el viaje, también podemos hacerlo. En los safaris sales con guías locales de la zona que conocen el terreno, como guías masái en el Mara o en Amboseli. El viaje es privado, safaris incluidos, y si quieres compartir un safari con otros viajeros también te ayudamos.

Es el mismo chat de WhatsApp desde tu primera pregunta hasta que vuelvas a casa. Si algo sale mal durante el viaje, escribes en ese chat y Nikhil lo resuelve directamente con el lodge.

Un ejemplo: el Mara y Amboseli en el mismo viaje

Imagina que tu plan tiene el Maasai Mara y Amboseli seguidos. Las dos direcciones están bien, ninguna es mejor que la otra, y hemos hecho viajes en los dos sentidos. Lo que yo recomendaría es incluir Naivasha por el camino. Del Mara a Amboseli directo son casi ocho o nueve horas, que es demasiado.

Con Naivasha en medio son unas cuatro horas del Mara a Naivasha, y luego unas seis horas de Naivasha a Amboseli. Así Naivasha sirve de parada, y además es otro buen sitio para dormir. Puedes salir en barca por el lago a ver hipopótamos o recorrer Hell's Gate en bici. En Amboseli solemos recomendar dos noches.

Cómo comprobar cualquier empresa de viajes en Kenia, incluida la nuestra

En Kenia hay montones de empresas de viajes. Algunas son buenas, otras no tanto, y no hay suficiente información. Quiero que Kenia sea más accesible. El objetivo es convertirnos en una de las marcas de viaje de más confianza de Kenia y África Oriental, y con las reseñas de Mara Hilltop ya hemos empezado muy bien.

Lo que preguntaríamos a cualquier empresa de viajes en Kenia, y nuestras respuestas. Las dos primeras son lo que la autoridad reguladora del turismo de Kenia recomienda comprobar a los viajeros.

Hay ocho viajes en la web, y el planificador (por ahora en inglés) calcula el precio de cualquiera de ellos para tus fechas. Las tasas de los parques forman parte de la estimación, pero las pagas en la entrada y el resto a RafikiGo (cómo funcionan las tasas del Mara).

El precio incluye las noches de lodge, los traslados por carretera, los safaris con guías locales y la recogida en el aeropuerto. Los vuelos internacionales nunca están incluidos. Cómo empezar

El planificador te deja probar una ruta y ver un presupuesto aproximado antes de hablar con nadie. Cuando estés listo, Nikhil comprueba que todos los lodges tienen sitio y te envía el presupuesto por escrito, y pagas la mitad por transferencia para reservarlo.

I used to plan trips in Kenya for my friends, and not just the itinerary. I'd organise the best drivers I know and the best places to go, and run the actual trip itself. My family and I have been living in Kenya for a long time, and we've helped many friends take some incredible trips here.

And honestly, I have that itch of always wanting to show people the best of Kenya. I've travelled all over the world and I think Kenya is one of the most blessed countries in the world, and I want people to experience that. So that's why I wanted to start a tour operations business as well. It's called RafikiGo. Rafiki means friend in Swahili. We picked it because this all started with planning trips for our friends, and we want to plan every trip the way we'd plan one for a friend.

Mara Hilltop, our lodge in the Maasai Mara, started with the same passion, and we've helped so many people since it opened in 2025 (more than 1,500 guests), with some amazing reviews. I'd like to do the same for RafikiGo.

Who handles your trip

This is not a big business. It's three of us: my brother Nikhil, me, and Anupam, who's been a close friend of the family for years and is like a brother to us. We love travelling and showing Kenya to our friends and people in general.

• Nikhil, my brother, runs Mara Hilltop and plans every RafikiGo trip. He answers WhatsApp himself, usually within two hours, from 7am to 10pm Kenya time.
• Anupam, our cofounder, handles your deposit and the paperwork.
• I price the lodges (we hold rates with 80+ of them) and built the trip planner.
• Your driver meets you at the airport with your name on a sign. For road transfers we usually recommend a Toyota Noah, which is very comfortable with air conditioning throughout the trip, and for families it feels perfect. Bigger groups go in a 10-seater or 14-seater van, and if you'd like a 4×4 for the entire trip, we can do that too. For the game drives you go out with local guides from the region who know the place, like local Maasai guides in the Mara or Amboseli. The trip is private, game drives included, and if you'd like to share a safari with other guests we can help with that too.

It's the same WhatsApp thread from your first question until you fly home. If something goes wrong on the trip, you message that thread and Nikhil sorts it out with the lodge directly.

An example: the Mara and Amboseli in one trip

Say your plan has the Maasai Mara and Amboseli back to back. Both directions are fine, there's no one better than the other, and we have done trips both ways. What I would recommend is to include Naivasha along the way. Mara to Amboseli direct is almost eight to nine hours, which is too much.

With Naivasha in the middle it's about four hours from the Mara to Naivasha, then about six hours from Naivasha to Amboseli. So Naivasha works as a halt, and it's another good spot to stay. You can take a boat out on the lake to see hippos, or cycle through Hell's Gate. For Amboseli itself we generally recommend two nights.

How to check any tour company in Kenya, including us

There are tons of tour companies in Kenya. Some are good, some not too good, and there's not enough information out there. I want to make Kenya more accessible. The goal is to become one of the most trusted travel brands in Kenya and East Africa, and with Mara Hilltop's reviews we've had a great start already.

What we'd ask any tour company in Kenya, and our answers. The first two are what Kenya's Tourism Regulatory Authority tells travellers to check.

The lodge's own website also has a page saying RafikiGo is run by the team behind Mara Hilltop.

• Mara Hilltop is the only lodge we own. Every other lodge on your trip is independent, and we book it for you.
• Kenya only, for now.
• We're not KATO members yet. KATO (the Kenya Association of Tour Operators) only takes companies after a year of trading.

There are eight trips on the site, and the planner prices any of them for your dates. Park fees are part of the estimate, but you pay them at the gate and the rest to RafikiGo (how the Mara's park fees work).

How to start

The planner lets you try a route and see a rough budget before you talk to anyone. When you're ready, Nikhil checks every lodge has space and sends the written quote, and you pay half by bank transfer to hold it.
